Designers You Should Know……..Patricia Field

Hello my fellow fashionistas!!!! I’ve missed you all dearly and I am proud to say that I’m back at it!!!! One of my new sections ‘Designers/People You Should Know….’ will educate you on different fashion icons, designers, inspirations, just people in general that have already made their mark, or are on their way to making it in the fashion industry….Enjoy!!!

Sex and The City, The Devil Wears Prada, and Ugly Betty are only a few sets that Patricia Field worked behind the scenes as the styist/costume designer for the cast. From her vintage, creative and timeless pieces, Ms. Field is an expert on matching each piece with each characters’ personality. With 5 Costume Designer Guild Awards, 2 Emmy Awards and 1 Satellite Award (The Devil Wears Prada), it’s pretty clear that she knows what she’s doing in the fashion department. It is noted that Patricia Field has been given credit for inventing the infamous legging back in the 1970’s…how cool is that to see a trend recycle itself 30 years later???  Sex and the City is known for the leading characters of Carrie Bradshaw, Charlotte York, Miranda Hobbes, and Samantha Jones and their spontaneous yet fashionable lives in the big city. I think we all can agree when I say their individual styles and wardrobe were chic and on point!! Back in 1995 PF, met Sarah Jessica Parker (Carrie Bradshaw- Sex and the City) on the set of ‘Miami Rhapsody’, from then, the rest is history and that’s how she landed her role as the costume designer for the hit series show. Now, I’m pretty sure all my fashionistas have seen The Devils Wear Prada…instead of Patricia Field using pieces from her line, she pulled pieces from other  famous designers. The cast wore everything from Calvin Klein, Giuseppe Zanotti, Kate Spade and various others. Now I’m sure every scene had you wishing you owned those pair of Chanel sunglasses (Model 6014) Anne Hathaway wore, or that that red and black dyed fox coat that Meryl Streep had on by Izzy Cemilleri. Also the accessories included some vintage jewelry, even one necklace in particular worn by royalty. Her mark in the fashion industry is not only relevant but filled with color, prints and innovative cuts.

It’s not hard to find Patricia Field…you can visit her physical store ‘Patricia Field’ in New York, NY or visit her online at http://www.patriciafield.com.

Until next time….XoXo
