Breaking News|Explosion near Boston Marathon finish line

Smoke billows after a pair of explosions go off near the finish line at the Boston Marathon on Monday, April 15. <a href=''>Read our developing news story</a> and follow up-to-the-minute reports <a href=''>on's Just In blog</a>.

23 people have been seriously injured and two dead after two reported explosions at the finish line of the Boston Marathon. The Boston Globe cited witnesses who reported hearing two large explosions shortly before 3 p.m. ET. The Associated Press reported at least one of the explosions came near the entrance of the Fairmont Copley Hotel. Yahoo News is tracking the latest developments in the live blog below.

Rescue workers tend to victims at the scene.

The explosions occurred around 2:45 p.m., about an hour after the first of the race's nearly 27,000 runners had crossed the finish line.

The blasts occurred a few seconds apart on opposite sides of the street, CNN Producer Matt Frucci reported.
